Australia Come with Law for Employees

Sydney-city-CBD

So Australia govt. has come up with a new Law that will benefit the Employees in the workplace. Australian workers on Monday gained the legal right to ignore emails and phone calls from bosses outside of work hours, unless doing so is deemed “unreasonable”.

The law is Australia’s response to the blurring of boundaries between people’s professional and personal lives amid employers’ growing reliance on digital communications and the popularity of remote working since the COVID-19 pandemic. Australia’s center-left Labor Party hopes the measure – introduced as part of a package of labour reforms that includes new rules for casual employment and minimum wage standards for delivery riders – will ease pressure on workers to monitor their phone when they are supposed to be relaxing and spending time with their loved ones.

Australia is not the first nation to grant citizens the ability to take time off from work.

Similar laws were passed in Germany, Italy, and Canada, while France introduced legislation in 2017 to shield employees from being penalized for not responding to messages sent outside of regular business hours.

However, Australia’s apparent need for such a measure conflicts with its international reputation as a “lucky country” with sun-kissed beaches and laid-back people. Australia was the first nation to implement the eight-hour workday.

So, for the Australian employees who are working for them it is a good thing as this will help them to improve their work life balance and also Boss cannot fire employee for the reason that they are not available after work hrs.
