The Democratic nominee is Kamala Harris, who entered the contest last month after Joe Biden, 81, was forced to withdraw.
In order to challenge Republican adversary Donald Trump for the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential candidacy, US Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the nomination today. Indian-born Ms. Harris became the Democratic nominee when 81-year-old President Joe Biden was compelled to withdraw from the presidential contest last month. Should she be elected, she will be the first female president of the United States.
On the final day of the four-day event, the crowd at Chicago’s United Center broke into cheers. “On behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, gender, or the language your grandmother speaks, on behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on earth, I accept your nomination for President of the United States of America,” she declared.
The 59-year-old promised to “fight for America’s future” and to be the “president who unites” Americans during her victory address.
“This election presents our country with a unique and brief chance to put the past’s resentment, cynicism, and polarizing conflicts behind us. an opportunity to forge a new course as Americans, independent of any one party or group,” she remarked.
