Nasa Has confirmed that Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore will going to reach Earth until nest year. They will only be returning to Earth in SpaceX’s Crew-9 Dragon capsule in February 2025 as per the reports.
Since initially the program was for 8 day to stay in the capsule on June 5 and then both of them will going to reach back to Earth. But due to some problem arise within the Boeing Starline spacecraft that has created huddle in getting back the two astronaut back to the Earth.
Initially it has been speculated that ISRO can help in some way but ISRO Chairman has told that they don’t have any spacecraft that can help directly to them. So now based on the reports it has been said that Russia have a spacecraft named Soyuz who can help them to bring back this two astronaut back to Earth.
But due to this on going sanctions on Russia it is quite possible that NASA will not going to take any help from Russia, So NASA has decided that they will going to sent SpaceX Dragon capsule as the rescue vehicle for the same.
It’s clear that the space agency and Boeing are still not confident enough to use the Starliner, which encountered helium leakage and failure of several thrusters after the capsule docked on to the International Space Station (ISS).
It is also said that SpaceX’s Crew-9 mission, planned for late September, would launch with only two passengers instead of the originally planned four. The SpaceX vehicle would stay docked at the ISS until February, returning with its own crew as well as the two stranded astronauts.
