PM Modi invited by Pakistan for SCO meet in October

Since the SCO Summit is around the time, and this time it is going to take place in Pakistan. So based on the courtesy Pakistan Government has forwarded an invitation to Indian Prime Minister PM Modi. But it is less likely that PM Modi will going to attend this event due to ongoing tension between the two country.

In respective of SCO is concerned so it is an international intergovernmental organization that is permanent is called the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Tajikistan announced the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Shanghai, China, in June 2001.

Presently there are 9 member states which are China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran.

Iran is the new member of the SCO, which was recently added to the permanent member countries in the 2022 Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held in Uzbekistan. The eight SCO member states gave their consent for upgrading Iran’s status from an observer to a full member. Iran applied to join the organization as a full member in 2008. It was an observer member for over 15 years. Iran has been admitted as a permanent member of the SCO at the Samarkand summit. Iran will attend the SCO as a full member from the Summit to be hosted by India in 2023.

Since there is a growing tension between these two country in the border has damaged the friendship from the Pakistan side. Whether it is militant attack like Pulwama or in the Jammu Kashmir infiltration of the militant, it has created a bad intention of the host country of SCO.

Also there is an diplomatic hurdle that is also the reason that India will not going to participate in the SCO Summit this year which is going to occur in Pakistan in October 15-16 2024.
