Due to not getting enough chances in Indian cricket from last two years, It has been speculated that he will going to take some decision w.r.t to his cricket career. Dhawan was last scene playing for Team India in the year 2022 against Bangladesh. Due to multiple injury he was off the field most of the time after that series.
During which many players came like Shubman Gill. KL Rahul etc. who was given the opener role who can fill his place as a opener in the team. But as we can see the performance of both the players which has created the selection committee to focus more on these two players then on Shikhar Dhawan.
In terms of IPL career is concerned he was playing from King’s Punjab from a couple of while. There also the performance is not so great that will help selection committee to look on him to get back on the team.
He has been on the field for 14 years featuring 24 International Hundred across 269 matches. His total hundreds score comes from 17 ODIs and 7 in Test Cricket.
In his cricket career he has scored total total 5000 runs with an avg of 40 Plus and 90 Plus strike rate. While he has announced his retirement in twitter by saying that he is retiring from cricket with peace in heart. He has lots of memories and countless gratitude that he will carrying forward in his shoulder.
