Qualifications
The program is open to all elderly people who are 70 years of age or older.

Seniors covered by other public health insurance programs, such as the Ayushman Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), must choose between the Ayushman Bharat program and their current insurance plan.
Each eligible beneficiary will receive a unique card to access the program. - The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana initiative is the largest publicly sponsored health insurance program in the world, according to the government.The plan, which covers over 55 crore people and 12.34 crore families in India, offers a health cover of ₹5 lakh to every qualifying family each year.According to a government announcement, “all senior citizens of the age of 70 and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status, would be eligible to avail the benefits of AB PM-JAY.”With this historic decision, all citizens over 70 will receive health coverage of Rs 5 lakh, irrespective of the family’s financial level.
With this increase, an aging population will have universal access to healthcare by covering six crore elderly adults from 4.5 crore families.
This is significant since PM-JAY is intended to offer a family a Rs 5 lakh health cover contingent on their socioeconomic status and meeting specific income requirements. The cabinet’s approval will allow the over-70 age group to become the first to receive full coverage.
