Starting on Tuesday, September 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Brunei and Singapore on official business. The Indian prime minister is visiting that nation for the first time on a bilateral basis. It has been forty years since Brunei and India established diplomatic ties.
According to Jaideep Mazumdar, secretary of state for external affairs, Prime Minister Modi will undertake bilateral talks with Brunei on all facets of their relationship and collaboration. As you are aware, Brunei and we have a very cordial connection. We work together on a variety of projects in fields including energy, space, technology, health, building capacity, defense, commerce and investment, and lively people-to-people contacts, according to ANI, which cited Mazumdar.
“The Indian diaspora in Brunei is about 14,000 and they comprise a substantial number of doctors and teachers in Brunei who have earned goodwill and respect for their contributions to Brunei economy and society,” he stated.
The MEA official went on to say that Brunei is a crucial ally for India’s “Act East Policy” and the Indo-Pacific vision.
“The visit takes on even more significance this year as we commemorate ten years of our Act East program. From 2012 to 2015, Brunei served as our country coordinator in ASEAN. It was crucial in our subsequent interactions with ASEAN and remains so to this day, the MEA official continued.
